Will It Float?

Apparently my toddler has been sneaking out of bed at night to watch David Letterman do his Will It Float? bit. Almost daily I walk into the bathroom to find a few new items added to the toilet. Most of them do NOT float. Do you want to know what they are? Legos, do not float, Hot Wheels cars do not float, neither do bagels, toothbrushes, cell phones, shampoo bottles, toothpaste tubes, pencils, hairbrushes, granola bars, etc. etc. Almost everything we own, if it is big enough to fit into the toilet bowl, has been put to the test. While some of the items may float upon initial dive into the toilet, by the time I find them, they are safe and snug at the bottom of the can. Don't worry, most of these things flush down quite well with no adverse affects(so far). As for the cell phone, it has survived, but there is not enough disinfectant in this world to get it clean enough for me to use it!

Now that is one thing I can say my child has not done. I still have much empathy for you though.

Let's encourage this spring weather to continue so we can test out sink and float all summer AT THE BEACH! Soon! I can't wait! One very good reason to love RI.

Ha, kids rule!
Chris' boy microwaved his cell phone once... I love that story. It didn't work after the nuking so Chris took it in. The guy opened his fried phone and told him "you must have left it plugged into your charger for too long... try not to do that..."
ha.

Two words for you Jenni: Toilet Lock. Actually this reminds me of the painfully gross story about the metro-north rider who got his arm stuck in a train commode trying to retrieve his cell phone...NASTY.

Denise, I remember reading that story, don't know that I'd go to those lengths to get my phone. I have thought about toilet locks, would my 4 year old be able to unlock one?

Oh Jenni, I'm sorry about that guy. It kind of reminds me of a few stories from October Sky... #4 seems to be a curious scientist with his experiements and research to do. :)

Somehow, that should be covered on the cell phone replacement plan. Read the fine, fine print. Toilet Locks- just one more gadget to investigate and conquer... been there, done that.

Mo- uses what? The phone or the toilet?

Jenni- Toilet locks are super easy to use and Max is smart...just show him how. These might just save you from seeing if Christian floats in the toilet...

You made me laugh again, because we can all imagine at least one of our children doing this. Hey I feel I should warn you, had a friend whose child tried that trick with mom's wedding ring unfortunately followed by a flush! He figured it was on the bathroom counter so it was fair game. So make sure you secure that little item somewhere safe until this phase passes!

Michelle,

Very helpful information. I will keep the ring on my finger from now on!
